J. Francis Smyth is the Co-Founder and Managing Partner at Cleghorn Capital.
Prior to Cleghorn Capital, Mr. Smyth was Vice President and Head of Acquisitions at Ritz Banc Group, a real estate private equity firm based in Washington, DC with $350 million in assets under management. He headed the firm’s acquisition efforts across all asset classes including Multifamily, Office, Industrial, and Net Lease. Mr. Smyth was actively involved in sourcing, underwriting, due diligence, capital markets, and disposition of investment opportunities.
Prior to joining Ritz Banc Group, Mr. Smyth was a member of the Multifamily Development & Acquisition team at Lincoln Property Company’s Mid-Atlantic office, where he was responsible for ground-up development and value-add acquisition opportunities. During his time at Lincoln Property Company, Mr. Smyth was involved in the development and acquisition of more than 2,000 multifamily units totaling over $500 million in capitalization. He also worked for the LeFrak Organization in New York City on the Real Estate Finance & Acquisitions team and for First Annapolis (now part of Accenture) in management consulting and M&A advisory in the financial services industry.
Mr. Smyth holds a Master of Business Administration from Columbia Business School and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Washington & Lee University. He is an active member of DC Real Estate Group and resides in Washington, DC.
